2023, the year of the black rabbit symbolizing prosperity and abundance has begun. On January 2nd, during the New Year’s event, SPC announced its firm will and concrete vision of implementing responsible management. Being the first New Year’s event ceremony that was held offline, after 3 long years due to COVID-19, it was live broadcasted on YouTube to facilitate the participation of overseas and domestic employees who could not attend the event.
A ‘New SPC’ for a Safe and Happy Workplace

SPC’s Chairman, Hur Young-in declared the reformation of SPC as ‘New SPC’
Determined to start the New Year’s event with full vigor, all members of SPC gathered at the SPC headquarters in Yang-jae, Seoul, and laid the foundation for a new pathway. As a focus of 2023’s management, the Chairman, Hur Young-in advocated a ‘New SPC’ and announced fundamental reform in all domains, including safety.
All the attendees of the event watched the video prepared on the subject of ‘Strengthening Safety Management’. Jeong Gap-yeong, the head of the Safety Management Committee, conveyed his message through video regarding his views on the formation of a global safety management system.
Communication Program for Building Rapport
Employees at self-photo booth zone and New Year’s wishes of employees in frames
SPC encouraged employees to participate in the New Year’s event through various pre-events. From December 28th to 29th, New Year’s wishes written by employees were presented in a calligraphy artist’s stylish handwriting in the lobby of the Yang-jae headquarters. Employees shared their wishes through frames containing messages of happiness, love, challenge, and health.
Furthermore, a self-photo booth zone was prepared, so that employees could capture their New Year’s event memories. People from each team gathered in groups and snapped photos with hopeful faces in memory of 2022. They also printed as many photos as they wanted and pasted some on the ‘Memory Board’. The photos collected in this way filled one side of the New Year’s event hall and were used as a space for employees to share pleasant moments.

On one hand, the board of directors themselves distributed tteok-guk to the employees. This event provided a platform for communication between the employees and workers, as they joyfully greeted the workers and conveyed their respect and consideration without any reservations. In addition, they exchanged rice cakes to commemorate the new year and pledged a new start for the year.
Real Time Two-Way Communication
This year’s New Year’s event was broadcasted online for all staff members and workers who could not participate in the offline event. The employees shared their impressions while participating in various events such as the Chairman, Hur Young-in’s New Year’s greetings, global video conference, calligraphy events and photo booths. Shall we take a look?

The honest opinion of workers who participated in the New Year’s event
In addition, executives and employees added candid opinions, saying, “I was able to clearly understand the problems and core tasks SPC is facing”, “It was a New Year’s event, I realized the scale of the company that has expanded to the world” and “I am looking forward to the new corporate culture of SPC ”.
SPC clearly presented future core tasks to lead new growth and change through this New Year’s event. Employees also promised to participate in the bold reformation and take the lead in the transformation of the safety-centered management structure.
