SPC Group Holds “SPC Happy Fund” Donation Agreement Ceremony to Mark Day of People with Disability

SPC Group (Chairman: Hur Young-in) announced on the 19th that it had held the “SPC Happy Fund” donation ceremony at the Purme Foundation (President: Kang Ji-won) in Jongno-gu, Seoul to support children with disabilities from low-income families.

SPC Happy Fund, which was launched in 2012, is a donation program through which SPC Group employees voluntarily donate a set amount from their monthly wages, and the company matches the amount raised by employees.

The cumulative amount raised over the last 11 years is estimated at KRW 2 billion, and the fund has been used to support around 1,300 children with disabilities and their families.

This year, KRW 200 million of SPC Happy Fund will be donated. Through the donation to the Purme Foundation, a nonprofit organization helping rehabilitation and independent lives of the disabled, the fund will be used to subsidize rehabilitation treatment, medical care, assistive device provision, and talent-development education for about 100 children with disabilities.

The agreement ceremony, which was held on the occasion of the Day of People with Disabilities (April 20), was attended by SPC Group Vice President Kim Beom-seong and the Purme Foundation Executive Director Baek Gyeong-hak.

The Purme Foundation Executive Director Baek Gyeong-hak expressed gratitude by saying, “The continued support from SPC Group and its employees has been a great help to children with disabilities and their families who could not seek medical care due to financial difficulties.”

“SPC Happy Fund could be continued for a long time thanks to the warm-hearted employees who actively participated in helping the neglected neighbors,” said an SPC Group official. “SPC Group will continue its efforts to lead the spread of sharing culture, and actively participating in practicing the social value of caring for our neighbors and society by performing various social contribution activities.”
