SPC operates a proposal system to create a corporate culture that helps the development of the company as well as its employees. This month, it held the 2022 Proposal King Award Ceremony, as a token of thanks for its staff members who helped in the company’s progress. Let’s take a look at the performance of proposal activities over the past year, and meet the heroes who presented innovative ideas and were selected as the best proposers.
SPC’s 2022 Proposal Activity Full of Fresh Ideas

SPC’s proposal system, in which all executives and employees can participate, externally strengthens corporate competitiveness, and internally, it is emerging as a place of communication where executives and employees share various ideas and seek improvement measures.
In the year 2022, a total of 14,703 people participated in proposal activities, and 153,425 proposals were registered, which is a huge achievement in contrast to last year. This is a 50% increase in the number of proposals, as opposed to the 100,000 proposals achieved in the year 2021. Among them, 35,404 ideas were adopted and contributed to the development of the company, and 8,352 ideas were put into practice, creating an economic effect of about KRW 7 billion annually (based on 11 excellent proposals).

The winners of 2022 Proposal King receiving awards and bouquets
Special prizes were awarded to excellent workers who played an active part. The chief of the SPL Public Service Team, Ahn Seong- hwan who won the title of Proposal King for the last two consecutive years, participated in proposal 228 days a year, and submitted 1,432 ideas which is 400 more in comparison to last year. SPC Samlip Sihwa Production Team 1’s assistant manager, Jeong Yeong-tae, who implemented about 97% of the total proposals, won the Execution King and was recognized for improving issues such as process errors, equipment abnormalities, and contamination.
Park Jong-hui, the deputy department head of the Paris Croissant Office of Proposal, SS Business Strategy Team‘s Park Eun-Yeong, and the Manufacturing Efficiency Team’s deputy head, Park Ki-Hyeon received the Excellence Award on behalf of seventeen co-recipients. These employees utilized wire meshes to increase production and created an economic effect of US$ 4,758,661. The Department Head of the PB Partners’ Office of Proposal, Kim Hae-ryong and the assistant manager, Choi Hye-won received the award on the behalf of Office of Proposal of Secta9ine, PB Partners, Paris Croissant and SPC Samlip. In particular, PB Partners and Secta9ine have achieved a participation rate of 100% annually, and they have maintained their position as the Management King for the last 2 years. Q. Congratulations on winning the title of Proposal King for two consecutive years. How are you feeling?
Hello, I am the chief, Ahn Seong-hwan, currently working for the Public Service Team in SPL Pyeongtaek. I am really exhilarated to have won Proposal King for two consecutive years. After consistently participating in proposal activities, I achieved such an honorable outcome. Thank you.
Q. The SPL proposal activity last year would have been more important, what are your thoughts on it?
Last year, we particularly focused on safety precautions. We paid close attention to the problems at the worksite, proceeding with proposal activities that focused on improvements; we tried to reform the difficulties at the worksite. We will work harder till the workplace becomes a safer place.
Q. What part of your proposal was implemented and helped in the betterment of the company?
A lot of shortcomings of industrial safety were overcome due to our emphasis on safety. Firstly, we rectified the installation equipment via the introduction of interlocks, safety nets and safety guards, etc., to eliminate risk factors that occur during work. As the workplace has become safer, worker engagement is much higher and the work environment has improved a lot.

Q. How did you feel after winning the Execution King?
Hello, I’m Jeong Yeong-tae of SPC Samlip. I still cannot believe that I won this award because it was unexpected. I will do the best in my position. Thank you very much.
Q. What is the secret behind your win?
I think my secret is sincerity and consistency. I am constantly researching for the development of the company, and when I saw the suggestions posted, I immediately put them into practice. It seems that as a result of executing them one by one, I was selected as the Execution King.
Q. How can we have more Execution Kings?
More employees will participate and come up with ideas if active feedback and rewards are given for suggestions. I hope that an environment, where various ideas can flow will be created and more Execution Kings will be born.

Q. How are you feeling on winning the excellent performance award?
Hello. We are Park Jong-hui, Park Eun-yeong of Paris Croissant and Park Ki-hyun of PB Partners. Our life flashed before our eyes when we heard about the news. While executing our tasks, we faced difficulties due to an absence of communication with the concerned department, but we are happy to see the fruits of our hard work.
Q. What proposal won you the excellent performance award?
While frying, it is required to constantly stir the contents of the deep fryer through tongs or a mesh. We simplified and automated the process by using wire netting. We developed the ‘Fryer Wire Mesh’ to improve the process that requires manual stirring.
Q. What was the reason behind this proposal and the outcome of this proposal?
There are a lot of other duties at the worksite than just frying. The flow of work gets disrupted if we constantly focus on the fryer. After getting to know about this difficulty, we proposed the introduction of wire mesh to the top management. After the suggestion was implemented, work efficiency increased, as it saved the time required for the fryer, and workers were able to execute other tasks in the meantime.

Q. How are you responding to the proposal management?
Hello. We are Director Kim Hae-ryong and Assistant Manager Choi Hye-won from PB Partners. We promote the proposal system by encouraging our workers to participate in proposal system and introducing it to the worksite actively. Although we are in a position to operate and evaluate the proposal, we sincerely sympathize with the opinions of those working at the worksite and strive to convey their opinion to the decision makers.
Q. What improvements do you think the company has seen through the proposal system?
With the activation of the proposal system, we are proud that there seems to be an inclination toward listening to opinions of the workers from the management’s point of view. Recently, the idea of using parchment paper to divide a sandwich into two exact halves was chosen as a winning proposal. A significant outcome is expected from this idea, which cannot only improve the efficiency of the workplace, but also the quality of the product.
