Food Bank, which celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, held a sharing festival at Cheonggye Plaza in Seoul on the 12th of October. Food Bank is a sharing system that receives donations of food and household goods from companies and individuals and provides support to low-income and vulnerable groups such as children at risk of starvation, seniors living alone, and the disabled at home. Since its establishment in 1998, it has been performing the role of a social safety net by alleviating the problem of malnutrition among low-income and vulnerable groups in Korea. SPC, which has been with Food Bank since it was introduced in Korea, also participated in this event.

SPC’s 6,000 stores, factories, and training centers nationwide are actively participating in the Food Bank project. The value of donations from 1998 to June of this year was KRW 248.2 billion (USD 189.4 million), with the headquarters and stores donating KRW 15 billion worth of food each year. Stores and factories share the products they produce, and the SPC Group Happy Volunteer Group provides delivery vehicles to ensure that donated food is delivered safely and freshly.
Starting with the MOU for the Donated Food Delivery Vehicle Support Project in 2022, a total of three vehicles have been donated to the Food Bank by SPC to date. We are planning to donate 3 refrigerated trucks next month, and we plan to support a total of 10 vehicles by 2027. SPC plans to contribute to the efficiency and systemization of the delivery system so that the Food Bank can reach more neighbors in need faster.
After receiving the Ministry of Health and Welfare Award, SPC participated in the Representative Sharing Package Event.
On this day, SPC received the Ministry of Health and Welfare Award in recognition of its 25 years of contribution to donation projects. It received even more attention as the third award following Chairman Huh Young-in’s Order of Civil Merit in 2000 and SPC Happy Foundation’s Ministry of Health and Welfare Commendation in 2019. Representatives from each company, including SPC’s Executive Director Baek Seung-hoon, did not forget to set an example for employees participating in volunteer work by participating in the Representative Sharing Package Event after giving the awards. Kim Seong, president of the Korea Council for Social Welfare, who was in charge of awarding that day, expressed his gratitude to all the companies participating in the donation project, saying, “Today Food Bank was possible, thanks to the full support of sponsoring companies.”

Paris Baguette signed an agreement with the Food Bank to support birthday cakes for local children’s centers to give happy memories to underprivileged children.
In addition, on 12th October, Paris Baguette joined hands with the National Food Bank and signed an agreement to provide birthday cakes for local children’s centers. Through this agreement, on the first Wednesday of every month, Paris Baguette plans to deliver birthday cakes for children to about 200 local children’s centers across the country affiliated with the Food Bank that wish to participate. We are already looking forward to the positive impact of this cooperation between Paris Baguette – which has over 3,400 stores nationwide – and Food Bank, which specializes in food donations.
As a partner who has been with the Food Bank since the beginning of the business, SPC feels greatly rewarded by the maintenance and development of such a good business. Please keep an eye on SPC, which will continue to take the initiative of spreading the culture of sharing with the Food Bank and ponder over and practice various ways to support the underprivileged!
