SPC Group Vice President Hee-soo Huh and employees volunteered to reach out to residents of the local community in need of help as part of the SPC Group’s social contribution activities. They have volunteered to help serve free meals to elderly people at Anna’s House, a non-profit organization that helps homeless people, street children, and elderly persons, and run campaigns to celebrate the birthdays of the bereaved family members of firefighters who died in the line of duty. Some of SPC’s social contribution activities have been featured in this edition of SPC Magazine.

SPC remembers firefighters who sacrificed their lives to save lives

SPC employees celebrate the birthdays of the bereaved families

Paris Baguette started the Firefighters Support Campaign in collaboration with the National Fire Agency in 2023. As part of the campaign launched to express gratitude to firefighters for saving lives and keeping us safe, SPC employees started to celebrate the birthdays of the bereaved family members left behind by firefighters who died while performing their duty. The event was initiated at the suggestion of Firefighters’ Families Hope Sharing, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping bereaved families of firefighters who died in action.

SPC employees visit the fire departments where deceased firefighters served, celebrate the birthdays of their children and parents, and offer refreshments to express gratitude for the sacrifices they made to save lives and provide encouragement and support for their bereaved families.

Firefighters celebrate the birthday of a bereaved family member

The first celebration of the year took place on January 23 and 30 at Taebaek Fire Station in Taebaek, Gangwon-do Province and Uichang Fire Station in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do Province. Paris Baguette employees visited the two fire stations and celebrated the birthdays of four bereaved family members: the daughter of deceased Seung-min Huh and three sons of deceased Jang-bo Shim.

On Firefighting Day (November 9) in 2023, Paris Baguette employees delivered firetruck-shaped cakes to children of firefighters as a token of gratitude for their service in an event organized in collaboration with the National Fire Agency. This special cake was all the more special because it was designed by an SPC researcher whose spouse is a firefighter. Marking the first anniversary of the cake, SPC plans to donate part of the proceeds to Firefighters’ Families Hope Sharing on Firefighting Day.
