Let’s take a deeper look into last year’s achievements on proposal activities and meet expert proposal makers who won the glorious award.

Proposals from 2021 that shined through active participation

‘2021 SPC Group Expert Proposal Maker Award’ hosted on the 14th

By implementing a systematic proposal system, SPC Group allowed its staff members to conveniently make proposals through their laptops and smartphones. Once proposals are submitted, experts in each field evaluate submitted proposals to decide whether or not to implement them into practice. Not all proposals are put into practice, but the evaluators forward their feedbacks to proposal makers after meticulous assessment.

In 2021, 10,652 staff members participated in proposal activities. This is a 39.1% increase in number of participants from the year before. Participation rate was 49.2%, which says 5 out of 10 staff members participated in making proposals. Total number of proposals reached a record high of 111,659, the first ever to surpass 100,000 proposals during a year. Out of all the proposals submitted, 25,610 were selected and made contributions to the company’s growth. 5,552 proposals are now put into practice, which led to an economic effect of approximately KRW 4.2B(based on 19 distinguished proposals).

Mr. Ahn Sung-hwan of SPL Public Service Team, winner of 2021 Expert Proposal Maker Award

Q. Congratulations on winning the expert proposal maker award! Can you tell us about your thoughts?

Hello, I’m Ahn Sung-hwan from SPL Public Service Team, winner of expert proposal maker award. I always did my best to make proposals, and that led me to winning the award. I wasn’t exactly sure if I deserved to win the award when I heard about the winner, but I feel great regardless.

Q. Since when did you make so many proposals?

I continued to make proposals the year before as well, but I didn’t submit as many. In 2021, our team leader encouraged us to become more active in making proposals so we simply did our best in submitting proposals. By paying an attention to issues or areas for improvement that are found on site, I work with a mindset of creating better sites.

Q. It seems like proposals are registered 24/7 from SPL.

Since we take day and night shifts, areas of improvement come naturally for us; employees work the night shifts and they can easily spot difficulties or inconveniences. Great ideas for proposals usually come along during the night shifts too. Our members have been actively participating in making proposals whenever they have downtime, day or night.

Mr. Kim Jong-hoon, Manager, SPC GFS Packaging Materials Team

Q. What were your thoughts when you first heard the news of winning the excellence award for practice category?

Hello, I’m Kim Jong-hoon, Manager at SPC GFS Packaging Materials Team. I won the excellence award in practice category. I’m flattered by the award because I believe staff members on site should be recognized through the award. As SPC’s purchase manager, I became active in submitting proposals as I was considering how to optimize specifications that would form a win-win relationship with our partners within the system. Thank you very much for the award. I will do my best to contribute to the growth of our company.

Q. What systems do you suggest putting in place for more proposals to flow in?

If the company provides proper rewards for staff members who submit their proposals, they will also repay with a wide array of ideas for the company’s growth. If other staff members become active in making proposals to make improvements in other areas, I’m confident that there are positive outcomes to come.

Store Manufacturing Planning Team at PB Partners Proposal Office, winner of expert award in operations category

Q. What are your thoughts of winning the award in operations category?

Hello, I’m Choi Hye-won, a member at Store Manufacturing Planning Team at PB Partners Proposal Office. It is my great honor to win this award in operations category. I’m currently in charge of evaluating incoming proposals from our staff members on site, and subsequently selecting excellent proposals. With the award in hands, I plan to encourage our staff members to submit quality proposals.

Q. Can you give us a word to encourage others to submit proposals?

Hello, I’m Kim Hae-ryong, Deputy Manager at Store Manufacturing Planning Team at PB Partners Proposal Office. I feel like proposals are somewhere in between suggestions and complaints. If you simply express your feelings about inconveniences on site, they become complaints. If you put your effort in communicating with your colleagues on how to improve such inconveniences, they become proposals. Many people think of proposals too grandly and doubt whether such small proposal can be selected and eventually bring changes to the company. I believe that when small ideas gather, they can lead to bigger changes. We value even the smallest idea and will do our best to support figuring out necessary areas of improvement and making site upgrades.
