In particular, the Labor-Management Cooperation Committee goes through a process of tuning in different opinions by reviewing specific improvement methods based on opinions that reflect all issues, from minor suggestions of employees to honest opinions about the company.

 

In this manner, by considering the honest opinion of their employees, SPC Group is advancing toward an improved work environment and labor-management culture. PB partners Co. Ltd., which was established by employing bakers from Paris Baguette franchise, recently, signed a collective agreement contract for labor-management and wages. As a result of the negotiations, basic wages of employees have been hiked by a 5.6%, welfare points and discount limits have been readjusted for increment.

 

BR Korea corporation, which operates Dunkin Donuts, is improving restaurant quality, welfare for employees, and system’s various short comings through Labor-Management Cooperation Committee. Moreover, the labor-management system has been making efforts for quality improvement and providing HACCP certification to all the factories.

The subsidiaries of SPC group have received recognition for its efforts from various organizations through awards. In December 2019, SPC GFS, an expert in food distribution, received grand prize at Labor-Management Awards, hosted by Ministry of Employment and Labor and Labor-Management Development Foundation, for its efforts to improve communication between labor and management, along with improvement of work conditions for temporary employees. Labor management committee at Paris Croissant consists of a Labor, and Health and Safety team. It has been formed to eliminate any danger to the safety, labor and health of the employees.

 

Q. What Are the Main Duties of the Labor-Management Cooperation Committee?

 

Our main responsibility is to maintain harmony and trust between labor and management. We work to create a healthy labor-management relationship by operation of grievances and operating exchange activities between the company and the employees. Recently, the social awareness regarding labor and industrial safety has been growing, followed by the strengthening of labor laws. Moreover, business environment has been rapidly changing domestically and internationally.

Q. What Kind of Measures Are Being Taken by Labor-Management Cooperation Committee for a Healthy Labor-Management Relationship?

 

On march 21st 2022, Myeong-uk Lee, the CEO of Paris Croissant Corporation and Gap-yong Park, the union head of the company, participated in the launch of an advanced labor-management culture and zero-harm workplace campaign. Apart from this, we are actively sponsoring delegate conferences, factory picnics, Seong-nam Labor Families’ Music Festival etc. We have also prepared a forum to regularly hear the demands of the union and the labor to resolve the issues through a quick dialogue.

 

Q. What Kind of Methods Are You Using to Register Complaints from Employees?

 

In order to resolve the issues, we receive through the grievance counter, we carry out wages and group negotiations quarterly with the help of grievance settlement committee. Labor- management committee not only resolves the issues of the employees at the main branch, but also devotes itself to solving the difficulties of the bakers at the factory and stores.

Q. Please Brief Us about the Accomplishments of Labor-Management Cooperation Committee.

 

After the proclamation of labor-management harmony in 2008, workplace disputes reached an agreement even before discussions. After our establishment in March 2020, not a single case of dispute between company and workers has been reported. This was highly evaluated, and we received the 32nd Korean Labor-Management Grand Prize hosted by Korea Enterprises Federation. This evaluation by Korean Enterprises federation also included social contribution activities of Paris Croissant Corporation. Paris Croissant is also hosting events like SPC & Soul Happy Bakery classroom’s special skill lecture, a confectionary and bakery education program, aimed at helping specially-abled people get employed. In this manner, we are aiding the employment of socially disadvantaged people.

Q. We Are Curious about the Vision and Future Plans of Each Team in the Labor-Management Cooperation Committee.

 

Every team in Paris Croissant’s Labor-Management Cooperation Committee is carrying out their duties sincerely. Furthermore, we are trying to revitalize the labor-management services that were discontinued during COVID-19. We aspire to strengthen the relationship between the company and the employees, protecting everybody’s best interests through active communication between the labor and management.

 

In order to maintain a harmonious relationship between the labor and management, we try to maintain a smooth relationship among employees. We are trying to create a work culture, where employees protect each other’s privacy. Besides, we look forward to offering impartial appraisals and rewards to our employees, so that they can actively participate in realization of the vision of the company.

 

Post-pandemic, Health and Safety team has become more receptive to health and safety issues of the workers, devoting itself to the task of creating a safe work environment for the workers by eliminating potential dangers to their health and safety. We are spreading awareness through education meanwhile, systematically strengthening the health and safety system. Through the above said activities, the Paris Croissant Labor-Management Cooperation Committee will contribute to creating a safer workplace where employees can work more happily, smile more, be happier.
