SPC Samlip Achieves Record-high Performance in 2nd Quarter… Outstanding Growth in Rest Areas Business and B2B Food Material Distribution

SPC Samlip exceeded KRW 800 billion in sales in the second quarter for the first time, thanks to overall growth across all business sectors.

SPC Samlip reported KRW 814.9 billion in sales and an operating profit of KRW 23.5 billion, increasing by 14 percent and 61.5 percent year-on-year, respectively.

While both bakery and food sectors, core businesses of the company, continued to show solid growth, service area business and B2B food material sectors staged a recovery due to an easing of social distancing, pulling growth.

In particular, the service areas business turned to the black with a five percent sales growth year on year. The Gapyeong Service Area, the largest scale of its kind, increased sales by 30 percent in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year, showing significant growth.

The second-quarter sales in the distribution sector recorded the highest of all time, with KRW 47.72 billion. And the profitability of the business has shown a significant improvement by increasing logistics system efficiency and expanding the e-commerce channel business, such as the online distribution platform “Bakingmon (Sangnokwelga).”

Both the bakery and food sectors, SPC Samlip’s core businesses, maintained solid fundamentals and continued to grow. Sales in the two areas rose 27 percent and 17 percent compared to the corresponding period last year, with KRW 204 billion and KRW 200.7 billion, respectively.

New product line-ups such as Pokemon Bread and Breadique gained popularity, leading to earnings growth. Significantly, the company re-released Pokemon Bread, launched last February, under the theme of “Bringing back memories,” and executed vigorous marking campaigns including diverse promotions, resulting in 70 million packets sold up to date.
